Tokyo stocks mixed in morning amid oil price retreat, weak yen

Xinhua, March 24, 2016 Adjust font size:

Tokyo stocks ended the morning session mixed in directionless trade as a drop in oil prices sending U.S. shares lower overnight weighed on sentiment, although a comparatively weak yen gave export-linked issues a boost.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 22.22 points, or 0.13 percent, from Wednesday to 17,023.20.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, dropped 0.14 points, or 0.01 percent, to 1,364.06.

Notable advancers by the morning break comprised fishery, agriculture and forestry and miscellaneous product-linked shares, those that lost significant ground were oil and coal products. Endit
