UN agency, AU to hold Africa Development Week in Ethiopian capital

The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) and the African Union (AU) will hold an Africa Development Week from March 31 to April 5 in Ethiopia's capital Addis Ababa.

The Africa Development Week is expected to convene a number of side events on issues related to migration, industrialization, regional integration, and global agreements such as the Sustainable Development Goals, according to an UNECA statement on Wednesday.

More than 3000 delegates including heads of state,representatives of member states as well as experts in sectors of industrialization, energy, statistics, banking, and climate change are expected to attend the event, said the statement.

The annual joint UNECA-AU Ministerial Conference will also take place and will be preceded by a meeting of technical experts.

The ministerial conference will bring together the AU ministers of the economy and finance and the UNECA ministers of finance, planning and economic development for discussions on Africa's development, according to the statement. Endit
