President Andrej Kiska received a resignation of the outgoing Government from the hands of Prime Minister Robert Fico on Wednesday evening.

The homogeneous Cabinet made up of representatives and nominees of Smer-SD has officially concluded its four-year term. At the same time Kiska has appointed Smer-SD leader Robert Fico to lead the new Government for the third time in the last ten years.

"We need to significantly increase citizen's trust in the country in a democratic political system, the ability of politicians to solve their problems and their determination to move the country forward," stressed Kiska. He welcomed that the coalition partners confirmed the orientation and anchoring of Slovakia in the European Union and NATO.

Most of Smer-SD ministers remained in their posts in the new Slovak government. Former parliamentary chair Peter Pellegrini takes over the post of the Deputy Prime Minister for Investments and former environment minister Peter Ziga becomes the Economy Minister. Non-partisan nominee Tomas Drucker is the new Health Minister. Enditem
