Kyrgyz gov't says recorded phone conversation on coup was real

Xinhua, March 23, 2016 Adjust font size:

An online audio file that recorded phone talks between Kyrgyz opposition politicians discussing coup plans was authentic, the State Committee for National Security said Wednesday.

A number of former officials were indicated for their involvement in the file, which has been spreading online for days now.

Participants of the conversation revealed intention to destabilize the country and seize power, the committee said.

Those involved include Duulatbek Turdunaliev, an aide to the interior minister in the Bolot Sher-led interim government, Kubanychbek Kadyrov, a former parliament member, and Bektur Asanov, a former governor. All of them are from the opposition camp. An investigation over the case is now underway.

Kadyrov denied the allegation, saying his phone conversation was edited. Endi
