Spanish King, Queen sign book of condolences at Belgian ambassador's residence

Spanish King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia visited the residence of the Belgian ambassador to Spain on Wednesday where they signed the book of condolences for the victims of Tuesday's terrorist attacks which claimed over 30 lives in Brussels.

The Belgian Embassy in Madrid has left a book of condolences in the Spanish capital for anyone who wanted to express their sympathy with the victims in Brussels.

The Royal family gave their "solidarity and support to Belgium, its institutions, and people" in the wake of Tuesday's attack, a message echoed by the leaders of all of Spain's main political parties.

Meanwhile, security measures at Spanish airports were increased, but the country remained at level four of alert against a terrorist threat on a scale of 1 to 5.

Spain has been at level four since June 2015 and level five is only put into operation when Spanish security services have information an attack is imminent. Endit
