Some 2,000 new graduates join Afghan national army

Some 2,000 newly graduated Afghan army soldiers on Tuesday enrolled the county's national army, according to an army officer.

"We witness another historic day in Kabul Military Training Center (KMTC) as over 2,000 new graduates were commissioned to Afghan National Army (ANA) after the completion of a three-month training period at KMTC," Afghan army Chief of Army Staff General Qadam Shah Shahim told audience in a graduation ceremony here.

The latest graduation has been speaking of boosting the capacity of the ANA and enable the security forces to further check subversive activities, the army officer added.

The newly graduates would be deployed to the countryside to provide security, he said.

Since Jan. 1 last year, Afghan security forces have assumed the full security charges from NATO and U.S. forces after the NATO-led troops switched from combat to support role. Endit
