Uruguay to host Special Olympics South American Football Cup

Some 260 athletes with disabilities from Latin America and the Caribbean will take part in the third edition of the Special Olympics South American Football Cup to be held in Uruguay's Maldonado, local media reported on Monday.

The tournament will be held from March 30 to April 8 with the participation of teams from Argentina, Bolivia, Cuba, Chile, Colombia, Paraguay, Peru, Ecuador, Venezuela, Mexico and Uruguay.

Martin Laventure, Maldonado's director general of sports, hailed the importance of the event as it promotes inclusion for people with disabilities, while generating spaces and opportunities for the participation and integration of disabled athletes. Endi
