India to revive 9 gas-based power plants soon

Xinhua, March 21, 2016 Adjust font size:

India has said it will soon revive its nine stranded gas-based power plants which will generate electricity.

The Indian Power Ministry said in a statement Sunday that the power plants emerged successful at an auction process and electricity from these units will be supplied to distribution companies from April this year.

"The auction process successfully concluded on March 20 wherein nine plants emerged as preferred bidders and were allocated 7.62 million standard cubic meter per day (mscmd) e-bid RLNG (reliquefied natural gas)," the ministry said.

"These plants would generate 6.79 billion units of power which will be supplied ... to purchaser discoms during the period from April 1, 2016 to September 30, 2016," it added. Endit
