Turkish derby match cancelled over "serious security threat"

Xinhua, March 21, 2016 Adjust font size:

Turkish derby match scheduled to be played Sunday between Istanbul's two largest football clubs has been cancelled over "a serious security threat", reported Turkish media on Sunday.

"The derby between Galatasaray-Fenerbahce has been cancelled over a serious security threat," Daily Haberturk quoted Istanbul's Governor Office as saying.

Galatasaray has first announced that the derby would be played without spectators in the stadium over the warning of Turkish interior ministry, Haberturk reported.

But later Istanbul's Governor Office decided to cancel the match, the daily added. Endi
