Colo Colo, Universidad de Chile draw in dull Super Classic

Xinhua, March 21, 2016 Adjust font size:

Colo Colo and Universidad de Chile drew in the 179th edition of the Chilean Super Classic, leaving the first team as the leaders of the Clausura tournament.

The first half was dull with a lot of midfield action which resulted in no goals apart from a powerful shot from Gustavo Canales.

The second half was a repeat of the first one. Both teams seemed to focus more on destroying rather than creating opportunities with Jean Beausejour's sending off for Colo Colo's being the only noteworthy incident in the 75th minute due to receiving two yellow cards. Universidad de Chile then failed to take advantage of this.

Despite the poor performances on both sides, Colo Colo managed to remain at the top of the standings over Universidad Catolica, by only one point.

The Universidad de Chile also gained a point from the draw but it makes no difference to the team as they are still in the lower end of the standings and are in danger of being relegated. Endi
