American ice dancers finish top two at World Junior Skating Championships

American duo Lorraine McNamara and Quinn Carpenter won the gold medal of ice dance in the ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships on Saturday in Debrecen, Hungary, with 163.65 points.

They were just ahead of siblings Rachel and Michael Parsons, also of the United States, who finished second with 162.74 points.

Russian Alla Loboda and Pavel Drozd were third with 151.19 points.

The championship began on Wednesday, with the pairs contest on Thursday and the men's event on Friday. Saturday saw the ladies and the ice dancing.

The competition ends on Sunday with a gala performance of the top placed skaters.

More than 170 skaters from 44 ISU members featured the championships. Endit
