1st LD: At least 4 killed, 1 injured in explosion in Vietnamese capital

At least four people were killed and one was injured in an explosion in Ha Dong District in the suburb area of Vietnam's capital Hanoi on Saturday afternoon, said Vietnamese government e-portal.

According to Vietnamese central government's online newspaper, at around 03:10 p.m. local time on Saturday (GMT0810), an explosion occurred on the sidewalk at Van Phu residential area in Ha Dong District in which one person was also missing.

The explosion left a crater of one meter deep and four square meters in the area, said the report.

Three people were killed on the spot while the fourth died on the way to the hospital.

Many houses in the area were impacted while six motorbikes were burnt and one car was affected by the explosion, said the report.

Local police is investigating the cause of the explosion. Meanwhile, local media reported that two people were seen trying to cut an oxygen cylinder which probably caused the accident. Enditem
