Clashes leave 1 killed, 12 injured in West Bank, Gaza

Xinhua, March 19, 2016 Adjust font size:

Clashes on Friday caused one Palestinian killed and over 12 injured in the West Bank and Gaza, reports from both sides said.

Israel's Public Radio reported on Friday afternoon that Israeli soldiers killed a Palestinian young man who tried to stab an Israeli soldier near the crossroad of Gosh Itrzion south of Bethlehem.

Palestinian Health Ministry also confirmed in a statement that a 21-year-old Palestinian young man from Hebron was killed by Israeli soldiers' gunfire south of Bethlehem.

The statement denied that a Palestinian woman was killed as she tried to drive over Israeli soldiers south of Bethlehem.

Earlier on Friday, Israeli police forces arrested two Palestinian young men in east Jerusalem for alleged attempts to stab, adding that the police found two knives from the young men.

Also, clashes broke out between dozens of Palestinian stone throwers and Israeli army forces in the West Bank and near the fence of the borders between eastern Gaza Strip and Israel.

Medical sources in the West Bank said that at least two demonstrators were injured during the clashes near Ramallah in the West Bank.

Ashraf al-Qedra, spokesman of the Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza told reporters that another ten Palestinians were injured by rubber bullets close to the borders with Israel.

Official figures showed that since the tension erupted in early October last year, 198 Palestinians and 34 Israelis have been killed. Endit
