Tokyo shares end lower by break on firmer yen

Tokyo shares ended the morning session lower on Friday as the yen's fast advance triggered selling of export-related issues.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average declined 217.10 points, or 1.28 percent, from Thursday to 16,719.28.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 16.61 points, or 1.22 percent, at 1,342.36. Endit
