Beijing spends big on municipal projects

Xinhua, March 18, 2016 Adjust font size:

Beijing plans to spend 1.2 trillion yuan (185 billion U.S. Dollars) on 210 municipal projects in the coming years.

The projects cover a range of areas, including regional integration, environmental rehabilitation and high-tech industries, according to plans released at a government conference on Wednesday.

The Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei regional integration project will be the top priority, with 36 sub-projects on construction, relocation, transportation and energy high on agenda.

A total of 263 billion yuan will be allocated this year, with the remainder handed out depending on the projects' timetables.

Beijing spent 216 billion yuan on municipal works last year.
