British FTSE 100 increases 0.42 pct on Thursday

FTSE 100 Index, British benchmark stock market gauge, Thursday increased by 0.42 percent, or 25.63 points, to 6,201.12 points.

The Bank of England (BoE), Britain's central bank, held the benchmark interest rate at the record low of 0.5 percent, BoE announced on Thursday.

Share price of Fresnillo increased by 9.99 percent, topped the gainers of the blue chips. Anglo American, Glencore, Antofagasta and BHP Billiton increased by 9.78 percent, 9.49 percent, 8.28 percent and 7.68 percent respectively.

Worldpay Group led the top losers of the blue chips with a share price drop of 2.48 percent, followed by Shire (2.38 percent), Barclays (2.07 percent), easyJet (2.04 percent) and Carnival (1.93 percent). Endit
