2 Pakistani soldiers, 3 wanted terrorists die in clashes: army

Xinhua, March 17, 2016 Adjust font size:

The Pakistan army said on Thursday that two security personnel and three "wanted terrorists" were killed in clashes on the Karakuram Highway in northern areas.

The army spokesman said that the terrorists were killed by security forces in a successful Intelligence Based Operation in Gilgit- Baltistan.

He said in a statement that the terrorists were involved in attacks on civil transport, tourists and security forces on KKH in Tarel valley in village Gayyal near Challas.

"Two security forces personnel embraced shahadat (martyrdom) in the exchange of fire," the spokesman said.

The security forces have cordoned the area and the search operation is underway.

The army statement did not say that which group the wanted militants belonged to.

The banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan and some other militants groups had previously claimed responsibility for attacks on buses of Shiite Muslims and foreign tourists in northern areas. Enditem
