Colombian BMX cyclist Pajon seeks Rio 2016 ticket

Xinhua, March 17, 2016 Adjust font size:

Colombian Mariana Pajon, considered to be the best female BMX cyclist in the world, travelled to Brazil on Wednesday to begin her qualifying training ahead of the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympic Games, local press said.

While visiting Rio, Pajon will participate in a technical test accompanied by her countrymen, BMX cyclists Carlos Ramirez and Carlos Mario Oquendo, as well as her coach German Medina.

This is the second time in recent months that Brazil's Olympic Committee and Brazil's Cycling Confederation have invited Pajon to supervise and test out the works on the Olympics BMX course.

Afterwards, Pajon will continue on to Argentina, where she will attend the Santiago del Estero Continental Championship beginning on March 28.

The Colombian cyclist, who recently won the BMX national championship, will also visit Europe to continue her pre-Olympic training.

She will participate in Manchester World Cup on April 10 and then will travel to Papendal, the Netherlands on May 8.

The defining moment for Pajon will be during the World Championship to be held in Medellin, Colombia, on May 25 to 29, where she is expected to finalize her Rio qualification. Endit
