China provides 10,000 induction cookers to Nepal as grant assistance

China on Wednesday provided 10,000 sets of induction cookers to Nepal as grant assistance.

The delivery and acceptance certificate was signed and exchanged between Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Wu Chuntai and Secretary of Nepalese Ministry of Supply Shreedhar Sapkota here on Wednesday afternoon.

The assistance was announced by the Chinese government at a time when the quake- ravaged Nepal was reeling under acute shortage of petroleum products and cooking gas.

"The induction cookers provided by China will be instrumental for the Nepalese people during the deficit of cooking gas cylinders along with during emergency and disasters," Shreedhar Sapkota said after the signing ceremony.

China has already provided 1,300 sets of induction cookers as trials, which are currently on sale in the Nepalese market. Beside cookers, the northern neighbor had provided 1,000 metric tons of petrol to Nepal in October to tackle the fuel crisis.

Addressing the ceremony, the Chinese ambassador said, "China is ready to respond over the desires and needs of Nepal and is willing to support Nepal in post-quake reconstruction and enhance positive cooperation in all ways."

According to the Ministry of Supply, the induction cookers will be handed over to the National Trading Limited within a few days for sale purpose.

Satya Narayan Meheta, general manager at the National Trading Limited told Xinhua, "We will determine the final price of induction cookers after discussing with Finance Ministry and will try to sell the products in a cheaper price." Endit
