Myanmar outgoing president congratulates president-elect

Myanmar's outgoing president U Thein Sein Tuesday congratulated U Htin Kyaw of the National League for Democracy (NLD) for being elected as president for the next five year.

In an announcement issued by the President' Office hours after the presidential election ended on the day, U Thein Sein said the state and the people take pride over the election.

The statement said the transfer of duty of the head of state has already been arranged.

In Tuesday's presidential election, U Myint Swe from the military and U Henry Van Htee Yu from the NLD were also elected as the first and the second vice presidents respectively. Endit
