Tokyo stocks edge lower in morning on investor caution ahead of BOJ meeting outcome

Tokyo stocks edged lower Tuesday morning as investors were in a circumspect mood ahead of the conclusion of the Bank of Japan's (BOJ) two-day policy meeting scheduled to conclude in the afternoon.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average retreated 7.46 points, or 0.04 percent, from Monday to 17,226.29.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 1.60 points, or 0.12 percent, to 1,378.35.

Notable decliners by the morning break comprised insurance, banking, and mining-linked shares. Endit
