U.S. stocks pared early losses to close narrowly mixed Monday, as investors awaited the U.S. Federal Reserve's two-day policy meeting scheduled to begin on Tuesday.

The Dow rose 0.09 percent, and the Nasdaq edged up 0.04 percent, while the S&P 500 fell 0.13 percent. Endit
