The government of Burkina Faso, in an official release on Monday, strongly condemned Cote d'Ivoire's Grand-Bassam jihadist attack that killed at least 16 persons on Sunday, among them expatriates.
"We condemn in the strongest terms these barbaric and terrorist attacks with undeclared purpose to undermine Ivorian people's democracy, freedom and progress spearheaded by President Alassane Ouattara", a statement issued by the prime minister's office said.
While sending condolence messages to families of victims and wishing quick recovery to those injured, Burkina Faso government reaffirmed its solidarity with the Cote d'Ivoire government and people during this difficult period.
Burkina Faso is also one of the countries greatly exposed to terrorist attack in West Africa. It has been experiencing a wave of jihadist attacks, mostly on police stations in northern regions.
On January 15 this year, jihadist attack on a luxury hotel in the capital city Ouagadougou had left 30 people killed. Enditem
