One French citizen killed in Ivory Coast attack

French President Francois Hollande confirmed Sunday night one French citizen was killed in the attack in Grand-Bassam, Ivory Coast.

Hollande strongly condemns the attack that killed civilians, including one French citizen, and members of security forces Sunday afternoon in Grand-Bassam, the Elysee said in a press release.

The President of the Republic sends to the victims and their families the solidarity of France, the Elysee added.

According to the latest report, at least 16 people were killed on Sunday after gunmen opened fire on tourists in Ivory Coast's beach resort of Grand-Bassam, about 40 km east of the capital Abidjan.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack. Endit
