Sun Yat-sen remembered on 91th anniversary of death

China on Saturday held ceremonies to commemorate the 91th anniversary of the death of Sun Yat-sen, a renowned statesman who led the revolution ending imperial rule in China.
In Beijing, a ceremony was held in Zhongshan Park, a park named after Sun.
The ceremony was presided over by Qi Xuchun, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), and was joined by representatives from all walks of life in Beijing.
They observed a moment of silence and bowed three times in front of the Sun Yat-sen Statue.
Floral baskets provided by the CPPCC National Committee, the Central Committee of the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang, the United Front Work Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Beijing municipal government were presented to the statue.
Born on Nov. 12, 1866, Sun is regarded as a great national hero, patriot, statesman and the front-runner of China's democratic revolution.
China will hold a series of events to mark the 150th anniversary of the birth of Sun Yat-sen this year. Endi
