Singapore stocks close 0.70 pct higher

Singapore stocks finished higher on Friday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) up 19.74 points, or 0.70 percent, to close at 2,828.86.

A total of 1.84 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 919.7 million Singapore dollars (667.9 million U.S. dollars).

Gainers outnumbered decliners 249 to 167, while 503 others finished unchanged.

The STI index lost 1.31 points, or 0.05 percent, to close at 2,809.12 on Thursday. Endit
