UAE's Ras al-Khaimah to lure Chinese travelers

Xinhua, March 10, 2016 Adjust font size:

The Emirate of Ras al-Khaimah, part of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), is to attract Chinese tourists to the Gulf state, said Haitham Mattar, CEO of Ras al-Khaimah tourism development authority, the UAE state news agency WAM reported Thursday.

Mattar recently promoted the Emirate in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Guangzhou to showcase Ras al-Khaimah, also called RAK, as a tourist destination in the Chinese market, according to the report.

"The sheikhdom offers a wide range of attractions from authentic Arabian activities and adventures to connecting with nature, culture and heritage," he said.

China belongs to one of Ras al-Khaimah's top 20 inbound global markets.

"China is a valuable market, with an 82 percent increase in visitor numbers in 2015 compared with previous years, and continues showing growth potential," Mattar said. Endit
