Xinhua, March 10, 2016 Adjust font size:

Indonesia is set to open an honorary consulate office in Ramallah, Palestine on March 13, and appoint a Palestinian woman to lead the office.

The opening of the office and the inauguration of Maha Abu-Shusheh as Indonesia's honorary consul in Ramallah, Palestine, will be officiated by Indonesian Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi.

"The establishment of the honorary consulate office is to prove Indonesia's full support towards Palestine, to represent Indonesia in Ramallah and to encourage economic and social relations between peoples of Indonesia and Palestine," said a statement released here Thursday by Indonesian Foreign Affairs Ministry.

Maha Abu-Shusheh leads Palestinian Business Women Forum and actively involves in activities promoting social, music and health issues. She also leads Palestinian Shippers Council and is a member of Palestinian Trade Center.

Two-way trade between Indonesia and Palestine stood at 3.67 million U.S. dollars last year, while in the previous year, 1.02 million U.S. dollars was recorded.

Indonesia sends at least 50,000 tourists to Palestine each year, and they mostly visit religious places. Endit
