Supercell grows rapidly in 2015

Xinhua, March 10, 2016 Adjust font size:

Finnish game company Supercell grew remarkably both in its turnover and profitability in 2015, reported the Finnish business magazine Talouselama's online news on Wednesday.

The Helsinki-based game developer increased its turnover by 36.5 percent to 2.11 billion euros (2.31 billion U.S. dollars) from 1.55 billion euros in the previous year. Meanwhile, its operational profit grew strongly by 64.1 percent to 845 million euros last year, according to Talouselama.

Ilkka Paananen, CEO of Supercell, said in a statement that Asia had become the company's largest market, and the fastest growth was now in China.

Clash Royale, a new game launched by the company just one week ago, has become the most downloaded iPhone game in 94 countries and the most lucrative one in 52 countries.

"Clash Royale has been the most downloaded game also in China," Paananen was quoted as saying. "We are incredibly surprised at what has happened," he said.

Founded in 2010, Supercell has developed popular games for smart phones and tablets and has attracted tens of millions of players from around the world.

The company has grown exponentially since releasing its hot game Clash of Clans and Hay Day in 2012. In 2013, its revenue surged by over 860 percent.

Clash of Clans continued to be the most profitable mobile game in the world in 2015, said Talouselama. Endit
