1st LD: S. Korea bans ships staying in DPRK from entering ports

South Korea on Tuesday banned foreign-flag ships having stayed in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) within 180 days from entering its ports, imposing unilateral sanctions over the DPRK's latest nuclear test and rocket launch.

It was announced by the office for government policy coordination which served as a control tower for the country's unilateral measures jointly drawn up by foreign, unification and maritime ministries.

The ban will be also applied to third-country ships actually owned by the DPRK.

The standalone sanctions came as the DPRK launched a long-range rocket on Feb. 7 after testing what it claimed was its first hydrogen bomb on Jan. 6. Enditem
