Tokyo shares end lower on yen's advance

Xinhua, March 8, 2016 Adjust font size:

Tokyo shares ended the trading Tuesday lower as export-related issues were dragged down by yen's appreciation against U.S. dollar.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average declined 128.17 points, or 0.76 percent, from Monday to 16,783.15.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 14.18 points, or 1.04 percent, at 1,347.72.

Decliners were led by nonferrous metal, electric power and gas, and banking issues.

The turnover was about 2,575.4 billion yen (around 22.75 billion U.S. dollars). Enditem
