Eintracht Frankfurt sack head coach Armin Veh

Eintracht Frankfurt and head coach Armin Veh have parted company, the struggling Bundesliga outfit confirmed on Sunday.

The club' s board and supervisory committee agreed to release Armin Veh from his duties with immediate effect. Assistant coach Reiner Geyer will lead the training before Frankfurt present a new coach soon.

"The sacking was really hard as Armin Veh had our confidence till the end. Nevertheless, we need a new coach who can give the team a new impetus in the relegation battle. Eintracht Frankfurt thanks Armin Veh for his work," Frankfurt chairman Heribert Bruchhagen told the club' s official homepage.

Veh started his second spell at Frankfurt last summer to reap five wins, nine draws and eleven defeats from 25 Bundesliga games. As a result, the "Eagles" slumped onto the 16th place, a relegation play-off spot, with two points to safety.

Frankfurt encounter sixth-placed Monchengladbach at the 26th round in Bundesliga on March 12. Endit
