The official results published by State Committee for Election and Supervision of Political Parties Financing and Slovak Statistical Office on Sunday evening showed that Smer-SD party had won the general election in Slovakia with 28.28 percent of the votes.

In addition to Smer-SD, seven parties made it into parliament. Freedom and Solidarity came in the second place with 12.1 percent of votes, followed by Ordinary People-NOVA with 11.02 percent.

The other parties that made it into parliament were the Slovak National Party with 8.64 percent of votes, Kotleba-People's Party Our Slovakia with 8.04 percent, We Are Family-Boris Kollar with 6.62 percent, Most-Hid with 6.5 percent and Siet (Network) with 5.6 percent.

The voter turnout was 59.82 percent, which was 0.7 percent higher than four years ago.

As many as 4,426,760 people were eligible to vote, of which 2,648,184 actually did so. Of the total number of votes, 98.56 percent were declared valid. People were able to choose from among 2,882 candidates from 23 political entities. Endit
