Easy wins for Ajax and PSV in Dutch league

Ajax and PSV booked comfortable victories in the 26th match round of the Dutch Eredivisie.

Ajax beat Willem II 4-0 in Tilburg on Sunday. Polish striker Arek Milik showed Ajax the way two minutes from half-time and in the second half the Amsterdam based giants extended the margin to four goals.

Riechedly Bazoer found the net with a long-distance shot and after a mistake by Willem II defender Rochdi Achenteh it was Lasse Schone who made it 3-0. Ajax captain Davy Klaassen smashed home the fourth Ajax goal, after Amin Younes had hit the cross-bar.

On Saturday league leaders PSV were too strong for FC Groningen (0-3). Jetro Willems opened the scoring in the 7th minute with a deflected shot for his first goal of the season. In a blistering performance in the second half Davy Propper and Jurgen Locadia added two more goals.

Feyenoord, which reached the Dutch Cup final last Thursday after a 3-1 win over AZ, has found the way up with a 3-1 win over SC Cambuur on Sunday. AZ beat Excelsior 2-0, Vitesse defeated Roda JC 2-1 in Kerkrade and Heracles Almelo lost 1-0 at NEC.

FC Utrecht, the other finalist in the Dutch Cup, continued their fine form with a 4-0 victory at sc Heerenveen on Saturday. Andreas Ludwig gave the visitors the lead and in the final quarter substitute Ruud Boymans scored twice and a header by Chris Kum made it 4-0. The home-team played with ten men for the last hour due to a red card for Joey van den Berg for a tackle on Sebastien Haller.

PSV now lead the table with 65 points from 26 matches, followed by Ajax (64) and a large gap with Feyenoord (43), AZ (43) and FC Utrecht (41).In a possible championship decider PSV hosts Ajax on March 20 in Eindhoven. Endit
