Macedonia's foreign trade declines in January

Macedonia's foreign trade volume in January 2016 amounted to 694 million U.S. dollars, registering a drop of 8.6 percent year-on-year, Macedonian Information Agency reported on Saturday.

In January 2016, the country's exports totalled 309 million dollars, down by 7.9 percent, whereas imports stood at 384 million dollars, dropping by 9.1 percent, the report said.

The trade deficit for January was 74 million dollars, down by 14 percent compared to January last year.

Leading export products were car parts such as catalysts and conductors, and metals such as ferro nickel and steel.

Regarding leading import products, they were platinum, used for producing catalysts, oil and electricity. Enditem
