Malta launches design contest for island museum

Xinhua, March 5, 2016 Adjust font size:

Malta launched an international contest on Friday for the design and construction of the Gozo Museum Project, a regional museum and cultural center in Malta's second largest island Gozo.

Heritage Malta, Malta's national agency for museums, conservation practice and cultural heritage, aims to make the project an attraction on Gozo.

The project fulfils Maltese government's commitment to make Gozo a distinct tourist destination through the provision of a fresh and novel visitor attraction

Malta's Minister for Gozo, Dr. Anton Refalo, and the archipelago's Parliamentary Secretary for the EU Presidency 2017 and EU Funds Ian Borg jointly launched the project.

Participants of the contest are required to submit a plan for all of the museum's functions and resources, a detailed design for a new building complementing the existing structure as well as a sample gallery for the museum's future display.

April 26 is set for the deadline of the contest and exhibition of submitted plans is scheduled from May 4 to May 31. Enditem
