Maltese politician calls for respect for migrants

Xinhua, March 5, 2016 Adjust font size:

Anglu Farrugia, the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Malta, on Friday called on people to show respect for and solidarity with migrants and refugees.

Although the integration for the refugees and asylum seekers will be difficult, multiculturalism could enrich the society, making people more tolerant and respectful, Anglu Farrugia told an inauguration ceremony on women refugees and asylum seekers.

Juana Lahousse-Juarez, the European Parliament's director-general for communication, who jointly attended the ceremony with Anglu Farrugia, thanked Maltese Parliament for hosting the exhibition and working closely with the European Parliament to promote awareness of the difficulties faced by women refugees and asylum seekers, and the need for expressions of solidarity with people.

The exhibition will be held at the Malta's House of Representatives for one week. Enditem
