UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon will travel to Germany on Monday, where he will receive the German Media Award in Baden-Baden and later meet with German leaders, a UN spokesman announced here Friday.

On Mar. 8, the secretary-general will go to Berlin where he will meet with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, deputy UN spokesman Farhan Haq said at a daily news briefing.

While in Berlin, the UN chief will also meet with the president of the Parliament, Norbert Lammert, and the chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Norbert Roettgen.

In Bonn, the secretary-general will take part in a special event commemorating the 20th anniversary of the United Nations Offices in that city. "That will be alongside Frank-Walter Steinmeier, the minister for foreign affairs of Germany," the spokesman added.

Ban will return to New York on Wednesday. Enditem
