Martin Silva signs contract extension with Vasco da Gama

Xinhua, March 4, 2016 Adjust font size:

Goalkeeper Martin Silva has renewed his contract with Vasco da Gama, signing an extension with the Rio de Janeiro club until 2019.

The 32-year-old Uruguay international told the club's official website it was a joy to extend his time at the Sao Januario outfit.

Silva had confirmed on Wednesday in a press conference that despite some delays negotiations over a new contract were ongoing.

In addition, the goalkeeper praised the atmosphere at the club and reaffirmed his happiness.

Silva has played close to 100 games for the side known as the Cruz Maltino. He arrived at Vasco in early 2014, following the side's relegation to Serie B.

The club suffered their third relegation in less than a decade in the 2015 season, and will once again compete in the national second division this year. Endit
