Spanish treasury places 4.5 bln euros on market

The Spanish treasury on Thursday placed treasury bonds worth 4.52 billion euros (4.94 billion U.S. dollars) on the market registering a demand of 8.11 billion euros.

A total of 3.09 billion euros worth of five-year bonds fetched an average interest rate of 0.694 percent and a further 947 million euros worth of 15-year bonds carried an average interest rate of 2.097 percent, which was below the 2.313 percent of the previous issue.

Finally, the placement included 475 million euros of bonds maturing in 2024 that fetched an average interest rate of 0.84 percent, which was below the 1.77 percent of the previous auction.

So far, the Spanish treasury has placed 31.4 billion euros of medium and long-term debt on the market which represents 25.1 percent of the country's 2016 financial goal of 125.3 billion euros. Endite
