NATO, UAE to enhance cooperation in addressing common challenges

Xinhua, March 3, 2016 Adjust font size:

NATO and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are determined to enhance cooperation in addressing common security challenges, NATO said Wednesday.

During an official visit by the NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg to Abu Dhabi on Wednesday, the NATO chief highlighted UAE's strong partnership with NATO, according to a NATO statement.

He stressed that there was scope for more participation by the UAE in NATO exercises and interoperability programs, as well as further joint work on defense capacity building and civil emergency planning.

In bilateral talks, Stoltenberg underlined that the security of the Gulf region was linked to NATO's security and both NATO and the UAE face a volatile security situation. These security challenges make closer cooperation valuable, he added. Endit
