6 militants, 1 civilian killed in clashes in N. Afghanistan

Six militants and one civilian were killed as clashes erupted in Dasht-e-Archi district of the northern Kunduz province on Monday, a local official said.

"The clash flared up in the wee hours of Monday in Pul-e-Momin area and lasted for a while, leaving six militants and one civilian dead," district governor Nasrudin Nazari told Xinhua.

Ten others including four women were injured during the firefight, the official added.

He also noted that sporadic fighting has been continuing in the area.

Taliban militants who are active in parts of Kunduz province have yet to make comments. Enditem
