Pakistan condemns terrorist attacks in Afghanistan

Xinhua, February 28, 2016 Adjust font size:

Pakistan on Sunday strongly condemned the two terrorist incidents in Afghanistan that killed and injured scores of people.

A suicide attack close to the Defense Ministry killed nine people and injured 13 others in Kabul on Saturday, according to the Kabul police. Taliban had claimed responsibility.

Fourteen people were killed and nearly 50 injured in a blast in the eastern Kunar province on Saturday that has not been claimed responsibility by any group.

"Pakistan strongly condemns the two terrorist incidents in Kabul and Kunar province of Afghanistan on Saturday 27 February 2016 in which lives of many innocent people have been lost and scores have been injured," the Foreign Ministry said.

" The government of Pakistan offers sincere condolences to the government of Afghanistan and the bereaved families, and prays for early recovery of those injured," a statement said.

The attacks were carried out just days ahead of the expected talks between the Afghan government and the Taliban groups.

A quadrilateral group of Afghanistan, China, Pakistan and the United States in its 4th meeting in Kabul on Feb 23 had invited the Taliban and Hizb-e-Islami to join the talks by the first week of March.

The Foreign Ministry said Pakistan reiterates its strong condemnation of terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. Endit
