National advisory body prepares for annual session

The leaders of China's top political advisory body met on Sunday to prepare for its annual session.
The Standing Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee gathered for a meeting attended by its chairman Yu Zhengsheng and approved a decision to open the fourth annual session of the 12th CPPCC National Committee on March 3.
The suggested agenda for the annual session includes deliberating on the standing committee's work report and a report on proposals from last year's session.
During the annual session, members will also attend the annual session of the National People's Congress to discuss a government work report, the draft 13th Five-year Plan on national economic and social development, and the draft law on charity.
Sunday's meeting also heard explanations of a draft CPPCC standing committee's work report and the drafting of work rules of its national committee members.
The CPPCC is a mechanism of multi-party cooperation and political consultation under the leadership of the Communist Party of China.
It consists of elite figures from Chinese society who are willing to serve the think tank for the government, legislative and judicial organs. Endi
