The African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM), supported by the Somali troops, killed at least ten Al-Shabaab militants and injured 20 others Friday near Somalia's southwestern town of Hudur, said a local official.

ATHENS -- Two young refugees attempted to commit suicide in a central Athens square on Thursday, local media reported, as thousands of people aspiring a better future in northern Europe remain stranded in Greece for several days following the recent tightening of border controls in many European states.

The two men, aged 25, used clothes to make a noose and tried to hang themselves from a tree on Victoria square, in the center of the Greek capital, according to Greek news portal "in.gr" which cited eye witnesses. (Greece-Refugee Crisis)

KATHMANDU -- Injured passengers of an ill-fated plane which made a force landing in western Nepal have been airlifted to Nepalgunj for medical treatment.

Two pilots were killed when the 9N-AJB plane of Air Kasthamandap, carrying nine passengers and two crew members on board, crash landed in the remote district of Kalikot while enroute to Jumla district from Nepalgunj, after failing to land at Jumla airport due to some technical glitches. TEHRAN -- Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Friday called on all eligible Iranian voters to take part in two major elections of the country that kicked off at the early hours of the day.

BAGHDAD -- Up to seven people were killed and 31 others injured in two suicide bomb attacks at a Shiite mosque in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad on Thursday, an Interior Ministry source said.

The attacks occurred after the sunset during the evening prayer when two suicide bombers detonated their explosive vests at the gate of al-Rasoul al-Adham mosque at the predominantly Shiite district of Shula in northwestern Baghdad, the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
