Boko Haram insurgency has severely disrupted HIV/AIDS control in Nigeria's northeastern state of Adamawa, an official said Wednesday.
The insurgency led to the destruction of records of more than 6,000 people living with HIV/AIDS as well as the health centers rendering services to them in six venues, said Stephen John, an Adamawa health official in charge of HIV/AIDS control, in Yola, the capital city of Adamawa.
John urged the state government to ensure adequate funding of his agency to contain the epidemic in the state.
There are 25,458 people eligible for anti-retroviral therapy in the state, but only 14,830 of them are receiving treatment, he said. Endi
