ASEAN+3 to deepen anti-drug information sharing

Xinhua, February 24, 2016 Adjust font size:

The ASEAN+3 countries will build up an anti-drug mechanism as well as an information sharing channel.

The Workshop on ASEAN+3 Drug Monitoring Network under the framework of ASEAN Narcotics Cooperation Centre (ASEAN-NARCO) held its working meeting here on Wednesday.

The meeting is designed to work out the ASEAN drug monitoring report of 2016. More than 100 delegates from China, Japan, South Korea and ASEAN countries attended the meeting.

At the opening ceremony, Narumon Chuangrangsri, deputy secretary general of Thai National Credit Bureau said the workshop aims to seek collaboration in information management including statistics, analysis of the narcotics, ways of abuse, tendency of child and youth drug use.

Set up last June, the workshop is a regional drug-busting agency to share information on crime prevention and attacking drug trafficking and drug-related activities in the ASEAN+3 countries.

According to the action plan of the workshop, the member countries will focus on building a network to collect information and work out an "ASEAN Drug Report," and deepen cooperation on setting up guidelines for information connectivity so as to build up a joint-database for drug abuse monitoring and anti-drug cooperation.
