Mild quake hits western India

Xinhua, February 24, 2016 Adjust font size:

A mild earthquake hit the western Indian state of Rajasthan Wednesday, a senior official said.

However, there have been no reports of any casualty or damage to properties, though disaster management officials have rushed to the district, he said, on condition of anonymity.

"The quake, measuring 3.0 on the Richter scale, hit the state's Jalore district, following which mild tremors were also felt in the nearby districts," the official said.

Though the state lies in Seismic Zone 2, which is considered to be a low damage risk zone, a similar mild quake had hit Rajasthan's capital Jaipur a month back. Enditem
