BiH takes terror threats seriously: security minister

Xinhua, February 23, 2016 Adjust font size:

Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) took the threats of terrorism seriously and would closely monitor radical groups in the country, said BiH Security Minister Dragan Mektic on Tuesday.

Mektic mentioned the video released on Monday. In the video, Amir Selimovic, a Bosnian citizen who joined Islamic State (IS), threatened to kill Bosnia's Muslim leader Husein Kavazovic.

"We are closely monitoring all communications of terrorists, in a comprehensive and coordinated action with police and intelligence structures," he said at a press conference.

"We take the threats in the video very seriously. We collect information, and we expect more information on this and all other threats to our country," he continued.

Kavazovic will be provided with additional security, local media reported.

Some 130 BiH citizens went to Syria to fight for the IS, with more than 40 of them killed while around 50 of them now back in the country, according to BiH security ministry. Dozens of them were facing trials in BiH court. Enditem
