Czech Republic expresses support for Georgia's efforts to join NATO

Czech Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka on Monday said his country supports Georgia's effort to join NATO and wants to continue to help the country in modernizing its military.
The statement was made at a press conference after a meeting with his Georgian counterpart Giorgi Kvirikashvili here.
Sobotka said the pro-European orientation of Georgia and its commitment to a partnership with NATO was appreciated by the Czech Republic.
Kvirikashvili thanked Czech Republic for its support for democracy in Georgia.
Georgia has been seeking NATO membership for several years, but some NATO member countries warn of an adverse reaction by Russia in such a case. At NATO's 2008 summit in Bucharest, NATO indicated the future possibility of Georgia's admission if it meets the necessary conditions.
Kvirikasvili is the first Georgian prime minister to visit Prague since the end of 2011. Enditem
